case 1 :-

A 6 years old child fell
off his bicycle, he had a small wound in the scalp 2 cm long. He bled
profusely. His mother was terrified and took him to the hospital quickly
Questions:
1-Why did he bleed profusely?
2-How can you control this bleeding away from hospital?

3-If the bleeding was in the fourth layer of the scalp (loose
connective tissue layer) and there was no wound, how would this child
present clinically?

case 2:-
A
17-year old girl visited her dermatologist (skin doctor) because of
severe acne of the face. On examination, it was found that a small
abscess was present on the side of her nose. The doctor gave her
antibiotics and warned her not to press the abscess.
Questions:
1
. Why is it dangerous to press, squeeze or incise an abscess in the
area between the eyes, upper lip & on the sides of the nose?
2. Where can the infection spread to?

3. What are the name of the veins which serve as connections
between veins outside the skull and those inside the cranial cavity?
4. Do these veins have valves or not? Why?

case 3:-
A
young woman hit her head on the dashboard of her car during a head on
collision. The frontal area of her scalp was lacerated and bleeding
profusely. The wound was cleansed with a saline solution and covered
with a sterile bandage. By the time the woman reached the hospital, she
had two black eyes. Further examination revealed that there was no
injury to her eyes.
Questions:
1. Why does the scalp bleed so profusely?
2. How could the scalp wound bleeding be controlled? What is the anatomical basis for this procedure?
3. Why does a deep wound of the scalp always require stitches?
4. Why are deep wounds potentially dangerous?
5. How would the blood pass to both eyes when there was no injury to the orbital regions?
